Safe healing starts here

The Tribe Cares provides trauma-informed residential support and structured healing pathways for women and children rebuilding lives after domestic violence in Fort Lauderdale.

Our beginning

Built from lived experience and deep compassion

The Tribe Cares was founded by Shani Muhammad to create the sanctuary she wished existed for survivors of domestic violence. Rooted in trauma-informed practice and a commitment to healing, we designed every aspect of our program around what actually helps women and children rebuild their lives with dignity and safety in Fort Lauderdale.

Our team

Healing rooted in shared purpose

We are a dedicated team committed to trauma-informed care, nervous system healing, and empowering women and children to rebuild their lives with dignity and strength.

Our foundation

Core values that guide our healing work

The Tribe Cares is built on principles of safety, dignity, and long-term transformation. These values shape every decision we make and every interaction we have.

01

Safety and trust

We create a physically and emotionally safe environment where women and children feel protected and can begin to heal.

02

Trauma-informed care

Every practice respects the impact of trauma. We use evidence-based approaches that honor survivors' resilience and experiences.

03

Dignity and respect

We treat every person as whole and worthy. Our support affirms identity, agency, and the right to rebuild on your own terms.

04

Long-term healing

We go beyond crisis response. Our structured pathways support nervous system recovery and lasting independence over time.

05

Family-centered support

We recognize mothers and children heal together. Our community-style sanctuary strengthens bonds while rebuilding stability.

06

Empowerment through identity work

We help survivors release survival patterns and reconnect with their authentic selves through somatic practices and identity rewrite.
